Description taken from http://bike.veganarky.net/page/about
This blog is a record of my veggie-powered cycle touring, general riding and some thoughts/musings about experiences on my bike. The site went online in May 2006. I had arrived in Hamilton, Ontario (Canada) a couple months previously to undertake comparative research at McMaster University.
* I picked up a new bike with the arrival of the warmer weather, aiming to get out and see what i could of the area. I had some interesting intentions for cycle touring and creating a new blog provided a means to share my experiences with family and friends back in Australia (and elsewhere).
The site was initially run on wordpress, and was ported to drupal in June 2008. Porting the site to drupal enabled a number of features I had always wanted. The include dynamically generated thumbnails and lightbox galleries for individual rides alongside a dynamic random gallery from all of my rides. Drupal is also far more extenisble and powerful, providing increased options for future features.
Following on from my ride from Hamilton, Ontario to Farm Sanctuary (Watkins Glen, upstate New York) and return via Ithaca in July 1006, I am planning my biggest ride to date. In early August 2008 I will be leaving Vancouver, BC for Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The impending (part) trans-Canada ride was part of the impetus to complete the port and update the site. Hopefully it will inspire me to take on some more epic adventures.
*My research revolved around the inspiring, albeit unsuccessful, community campaign to save the Red Hill Creek valley and the support afforded the Haudenosaunee. Visiting the Caledonia blockade (by bike) also proved an valued experienced.
